Mrs. Quinn's Rise to Fame: The Roundup

Well, it's that time, the end of a Book's moment in the spotlight, and now the focus is on all those who contributed to this selection with their recipes and reviews.

First up was Amy of Amy's Cooking Adventures with a Lemon Meringue Pie! And from her comments, it was dreamy perfection!  It certainly looks that way!  You rose to the challenge, good going Amy! She enjoyed the book, see more of her review here.

Next in was Wendy from A Day in the Life on the Farm who brought a scrumptious Blueberry Swiss Roll to our gathering!  She enjoyed the book and thought it was a truly touching love story aside from all the wonderful food. Read more about it here.

Then Debra from Eliot's Eats arrived with a delicious sounding Pantry Chocolate Tiffin, her own version of the staple British no-bake dessert, a sort of refrigerator cake made from sweet and crunchy pantry items.  Which I had never heard of and now want to try for myself.  Read her review at the above link.

Claudia of Honey From Rock, came in next with a Savory entry. No dessert here, A Cheese and Onion Pie, apparently classic British comfort food.  It was inspired by the books's fairly sad back story - what happened in Jenny's life before Bernard.  What she had been keeping from him.  All aside from the Baking Competition!   More at the above Pie link.

Marge, The Intrepid Reader and Baker brought us a fantastic looking and delicious Black Forest Gateau! I'd like to dive into that!  She said "This is Olivia Ford's first and only book so far. I will be looking out for her next book because I really loved this one." More at the above link.

Last, but not least, Simona, of Bricole brought us another savory contribution!  She has put together a very intriguing combination of flavors in an Onion Casserole with Roasted Peppers and Cheese.  I especially want to try that unusual cheese!  A "California-made Fiscalini San Joaquin Gold." She thought the novel was "A light read for fans of baking shows interested in taking a peak behind the scenes."

Well, that's it folks!  I hope you'll visit all the above contributors to get their full reviews and recipes!

And, stay with us!  We're looking forward to our October/November selection: The Kamogawa Food Detectives by Hisashi Kashiwai, guest hosted by Marge, the Intrepid Reader and Baker.
